How do you reconcile

When the image you see

As you look in the mirror

Has morphed into someone

you used to see clearer?

How do you reconcile

When you're forever pining

Over times that once were

In a fictitious dream

Of which you used to be more sure?

How do you reconcile

When the plan you had for yourself

Has still not manifested

But it's just beyond the veil

Touching breath, untested?

How do you reconcile

When your soul is bursting at the seams

When your desires spill

Into neverending dreams?

How do you reconcile

When you know that the pressure

Will push it away

And if you let go,

It may happen someday?

How do you reconcile

When you have too many expectations

That fuel you

Even though you know

The less you care,

The more it will renew you?

How do you reconcile

When you've drank too much red wine

On a friday night

And your deepest insecurities

Rush out to take flight?

Well, maybe you don't.

Maybe the holding of tension,

Of blessings, of lessons,

Keep us together to chug through the guessing.

Maybe I just need to dampen

The rambling and let it to rest.

Maybe these thoughts

Are all just one more test.

I know I will keep on because

That's how my soul breathes,

Quieting the noise

With the words that I weave.
